The Kitchen of Meaning

" He reads, first of all and above all, images, gestures, behaviors: this car tells me the social statu of its owner, this garment tells me quiete precisely the degree of its own cnformism or eccentricity, ...(whiskey...) reveals my host's life style"(Bartes, p.01). In this quotation, Barthes explains the purpose of reading from his own point of view. He tells us that we should carefully read between the lines because the writing conventions are there to make us feel, hear or picture what the reader wants us know.
